A band out of Chattanooga, Tennessee, Matt Green and The Undead Machine is an indie folk band collaboration of family members and friends, headed by Matt Green on vocals and guitar.

Matt first began fostering his musical talent while playing guitar in high school. After meeting at band camp during his sophomore year, Matt and his friend Daniel Lunsford started their own band, writing close to forty songs as part of their customary after school collaborations. The regular practice sessions he conducted with Daniel (current lead guitarist for Matt Green and The Undead Machine) established the habit of songwriting as an essential part of his daily life.

Although the first time he performed for a friend, Matt was lovingly told not to quit his day job, he persistently worked on perfecting his guitar technique. Channeling his teen angst into what he describes as 'terrible poetry' and later into 'terribly preachy Christian songs', Matt eventually grew out of those characteristically awkward teenage years, developing his writing style to produce refined and self-reflective lyrics, dealing with love, faith, and religion, among other themes.

A multi-talented (though not self-admittedly so) creative powerhouse, Matt Green temporarily put his ambition as a comic book illustrator aside, dusted off his music business degree, and began focusing all his efforts on songwriting in 2007.

Having studied marketing, Matt drew upon this knowledge to find a way to promote his music with minimal financial support. He initiated the Song-A-Day project on his myspace page as a way to share his home studio recordings with as many people as were willing to listen. Finding time to breathe, let alone write and record music, seems like a demanding task for a stay home dad of two exuberant kids, yet Matt committed to recording at least one song each day for his Song-A-Day initiative.

The process of writing, recording, and posting new material daily on myspace turned out to be a creatively draining experience. As a result, Matt adopted a more lighthearted approach to his Song-A-Day project, taking Sundays off for creative rejuvenation, and putting songwriting aside until it came time to write. Finding time to compose the guitar melody, and complement it with fitting lyrics, during the golden silence that ensues during his children's peaceful naptime, Matt continuously pushes himself to be productive. Considering songwriting to be a relatively effortless endeavor, Matt considers it a blessing to share his musical talent with a community of loyal supporters, and ever-increasing audience.

The response to Matt Green's catchy, charismatic melodies and silky vocals has been overwhelmingly positive. His music recalls the vulnerable vocals of Elliott Smith or Nick Drake, whose prolific songwriting serves as his daily inspiration, encouraging him to keep recording his music daily, with the future goal of supplementing the family income with his music, and finding the time to bring his skills as a comic book illustrator to life.

His appealing folk sound is steadily gathering a loyal audience, and although the band name Matt Green and The Undead Machine may be quite a mouthful, their delightful music is undeniably easy to digest.
